Ways to Select a Research Topic
It is a good idea to start doing your best while thinking of a research topic. Usually, students will take the task for granted simply because they need to attend to more demanding tasks like researching and writing the paper. However, having a good research topic will ultimately influence the overall thesis format and the content of the project. How do we select a research subject for writing? I have prepared a simple yet effective list of tips that you can apply to your topic selection procedure.
- A research topic must be familiar. Make sure that you know something about the topic that you are going to choose. Your familiarity will save you time and effort in the long run.
- There should be a sense of significance in the topic interest. This significance is relative to the population as a whole and not only to you. Consider also how other people will react to your topic.
- Thesis writing involves the presentation of data results. I this case, try to come up with a topic that is relevant to our own generation’s time. If your results are timely, then all of us will benefit from it should your project become a fully recognizable research paper.
- Consider also the feasibility of the research topic. Make sure that you can actually conduct a research out of it and that you can support your details with recognized techniques in knowledge searches.
- When you select a topic, try to ask a question “can I find enough resources to support my thesis statement?”
