Thesis Statement Tips

What is a thesis? You probably already know that a thesis paper is the compendium of different parts involved in the actual process of researching. Since you already have an idea what it is all about, we will simply talk about the term ‘thesis’ as the representative of the thesis statement in general. This is the most important aspect of any research paper and this the simple sentence provides a lot of meaning about the actual written project.

A thesis statement is a representative declaration of what you believe to be valid and acceptable. This is the idea that you wish to prove in the entire research paper. You can easily compose a sentence and consider it a thesis statement but there are some factors that you need to consider in order to compose a good one. Let me give you some tips on how to make thesis statements.

  1. A thesis statement should be arguable and present a definite point of view. It should be something that provokes agreement or disagreement of the readers.
  2. It should tackle a notion that can be covered by the procedures involved in the actual research methods and procedures.
  3. The statement should be focusing only on e specific idea. For example, instead of talking about computers you can specifically discuss the distribution of electricity in an Asus brand motherboard.
  4. It should reflect your own hypothesis and conclusion which will be based on evidence of your research procedures.
  5. The thesis statement should already anticipate counter arguments and ideas that the readers may initiate.
  6. A good statement of your thesis should not include the first person speech perspective so it should sound like it is presenting a fact or an observation.
