So why do we call them different names? Students in high school and undergraduate levels call the research paper as a thesis. On the other hand, students in the PhD level call the paper dissertation. Still, the same parts will be available in both of these paper types. So let us discuss the different chapters that you have to include in your paper.
The first part of the thesis dissertations is the abstract. We recommend that you write this segment after you have written all the major parts of the entire thesis. This is because the abstract serves as the executive summary for the entire paper. What should we put in the abstract? You can write the summary of the paper. You should limit the number of words to 300. The maximum should be about 500 words.
The next chapter is the introduction. This part will provide the introductory concept of the thesis to the readers. The introduction should contain the main reason why you have selected the topic of interest. In most cases, it will provide the readers the thesis statement of the research article. You can also present the problem statement that you wish to solve as you go about the research process.
The third chapter is the literature review. This part is the summary of other materials that relate to your topic. Why is this important? It gives your readers an idea on how significant your topic is. If you can find other materials that can support your topic, then there is a reason for you to conduct research on it.
Afterwards, you need to include the methodology. This chapter will include an explanation on how you acquired data for your paper. Explain to your readers that methods that you used for the data and what analysis methods you have utilized. This way, the readers will know whether you have a credible result of not.
Your thesis dissertations will depend on the data and analysis chapter. The results of your work will rely on the accuracy of this part. Therefore, you have to provide your readers with the details of your research results in this chapter.
Lastly, the conclusion will be the final chapter of the thesis dissertations. It will be the main chapter that will solve the thesis problem statement. You can actually present your final answer to the problem and then summarize what you have found out in the course of research.
